General

The Model AB-5 Portable Radiation Monitor is a versatile lightweight instrument for fast accurate measurement of environmental radiation levels. The unit is completely self-contained and has a built-in photomultiplier tube, air pump and rechargeable battery to minimize setup time. A wide variety of probes and detectors are available as accessories. Users can purchase a basic instrument and add accessories as required.

Accessories are available for measuring alpha or beta emitting particulates on a 47mm diameter filter A standard ABA adapter, and a continuous passive radon and environmental level radon gas detector enable the operator to measure alpha emitting gases by various methods. Wipe testing and surface contamination accessories are simple attachments. Gamma-beta and low energy gamma and x-ray probes plug into the rear of the instrument.

The AB-5 radiation monitor has many applications. For environmental measurements, the instrument offers a truly portable means of collecting field data on a programmable and long term basis. The instrumentation is not limited to detection of a single class of radiation and is therefore an excellent general purpose lab instrument. Accessories are available for health protechon surveys or environmental monitoring. This includes wipe testing and surface contamination surveys.
